“Weather Girl” podcast and Polish translation

I’m delighted that my short fiction “Weather Girl” is now available on audio via the excellent StarShipSofa podcast, narrated by Chloe Yates. You can listen online here.

The story was first published in the Infinity Wars anthology (Solaris), edited by Jonathan Strahan: tales of soldiers, on the ground and fighting, in the near future and in the farthest reaches of space, using the latest technologies and facing the oldest of fears. Through the lens of a separated wife and husband, “Weather Girl” explores how extreme weather events of climate breakdown might be exploited for military gain.

This year the story was also translated into Polish by Kamil Lesiew for the speculative fiction magazine Nowa Fantastyka, and included some lovely header artwork.

Solaris signs Paris Adrift!

I’m thrilled to share the news that award-winning publisher Solaris have signed my new novel, Paris Adrift, a tale of time travel set in the City of Lights. The deal, for World English rights, was negotiated with John Berlyne at Zeno Agency Ltd.

Solaris are a fantastic team and I’m very much looking forward to working with them over the coming months. Paris is a city close to my heart, and I can’t wait for readers to join Hallie – and her bartending friends – as she is unwittingly thrust into a journey that will take her through the city’s turbulent past and possible futures, forcing her to come to terms with love, loss and her own precarious sense of self.

Today I am also able to share the beautiful artwork for the novel. The first sighting of a cover can be a nerve-racking moment, so I couldn’t have been happier when Solaris said they would approach the brilliant Joey Hi-Fi, whose work I’ve admired for a long time. It’s fair to say Joey’s artwork for Paris Adrift has surpassed all my expectations.

Paris Adrift will be published in February 2018.

Best British Fantasy 2013

THE BEST BRITISH FANTASY 2013 is now out! The collection includes my story The Complex, first printed in Interzone last year.

In other news: Zeno Agency posted a cover reveal for CATAVEIRO, Book 2 of The Osiris Project, which I’m just delighted with. CATAVEIRO is scheduled for publication in the UK in February 2014.

Pre-order The Lowest Heaven

This week Pandemonium Fiction revealed the stunning artwork for The Lowest Heaven anthology. It looks absolutely gorgeous and I’m thrilled to have a story in the collection. Here’s the cover (copyright Joey Hi-Fi):

You can read an interview with artist Joey Hi-Fi over on the Royal Observatory’s website and a limited edition hardback featuring photography from the Observatory’s archive is now available to pre-order exclusively from the Observatory shop (don’t go to Amazon). Paperback and e-book editions will be released June 2013.
